In-Water Vehicle Selection and Work Access
If work requires that equipment enter wetlands or below the bank of a waters of the state, equipment with low ground-pressure (typically less than 13 to 20 pounds per square inch (psi)) should be selected where feasible to minimize soil compaction. Low groundpressure heavy equipment mats should be used if needed to lessen soil compaction. Hydraulic fluids in mechanical equipment working in the waters of the state, will not contain organophosphate esters. Vegetable based hydraulic fluids are preferred, where feasible. The amount of time this equipment is stationed, working, or traveling in the waters of the state will be minimized. All
equipment will be removed from the aquatic feature during non-work hours where
appropriate or returned to the agency-approved staging area in the aquatic feature.
