Habitat Assessment and Surveys

Prior to implementing proposed vegetationaltering or ground-disturbing activities, a Qualified Biologist will conduct a field evaluation of suitable habitat for both species, for all covered activities that could occur in suitable habitat for these species in the project area. If the project cannot fully avoid effects on suitable habitat, species presence would be assumed. If the Project Proponent is interested in conducting protocol-level surveys to confirm presence or absence, in accordance with the USFWS Habitat Assessment Guidelines and Survey Protocol for the Riparian Brush Rabbit and the Riparian Woodrat, pre-approval by the USFWS for such work is required via the ESA Section 7(a)(2) Review Form process.
