Sediment shall be removed from sediment controls once it has reached one-third of the exposed height of the control. Whenever straw bales are used, they shall be staked and dug into the ground to a minimum depth of 12 cm, and only sterile, weed-free straw shall be utilized. Catch basins shall be maintained so that no more than 15 cm of sediment depth accumulates within traps or sumps.
